We would like to add an ELECTRO-OPTICS ENGINEER to our on-site team. The incumbent will support instrument development in support of NASA’s Climate Change Research Program at NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton, VA.
Job Description
The successful applicant will be involved in the design, test and evaluation of advanced detector subsystems for atmospheric remote sensing in the Systems Engineering Directorate at NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton, VA. Job duties include:
- Development of detector arrays for instruments operating in UV/VIS/IR wavelengths
- CAD modeling & simulation of 1D and 2D detector arrays
- Development of precision on-orbit calibration techniques particularly in the infrared region
- Detector performance assessments and trades
- Bench-level test configurations for performance/requirements validation
- Insights into emerging detector technologies/calibration methods
- Technical documentation of analysis and study results. Briefing results to the client or other groups as necessary
Relevant Experience
- An electronics/optical engineering background with strong design, analytical and testing skills
- Specific familiarity with space-based instrument development
- A high level of motivation and excellent communication skills with a passion for space/earth science
Education and Qualifications
- BS, MS, or PhD in engineering, engineering physics or equivalent. Advanced degrees are a plus
- Candidates with 2+ years industry experience desired
- Candidate’s willingness to relocate to the Hampton, VA area is a plus
